[CRD013] Preshower Longitudinal Development Adopting COMSOL as a Tool

Identification and energy estimation of the primary particle of Extremely High Energy Cosmic Ray (EHECR) air showers may lead to understanding of the origin of Cosmic Rays having energy ≥ 〖10〗^20 eV. For such energies, photons are considered to be the most probable candidates. Preshowers formed by EHE photons in the earth’s magnetosphere have significant effect on the subsequent shower development in the earth’s atmosphere. Longitudinal development of pre showers is investigated by many theorists adopting Monte Carlo simulation. The Finite Element Method based COMSOL Multiphysics software has been used extensively to solve the different particle related problems as it has the ability to modify governing equations with higher throughput, process monitoring with lower cost and less time consumption along with option of user-defined parameter and variable definitions. Hence, preshower analysis may be re-attempted adopting COMSOL Multiphysics software. In this paper, longitudinal development of preshower adopting COMSOL Multiphysics software is presented.
