[CRI060] Position-sensitive SiPM detector for separation of Cherenkov and fluorescent light of EAS

The goal of this study is to develop the mathematical and hardware complex for the improvement accuracy of the primary cosmic rays characteristics (the primary energy and mass) reconstruction. The complex is designed for ground and space based optical detectors for high and ultrahigh energy cosmic ray studies. In this paper the separation method based on the simultaneous recording light from one "optical pixel" by two (or two pairs) silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) is proposed. The first SiPM detects incoming light flux in its full sensitive wavelength band. On another SiPM light comes through the optical UV filter for the fluorescent light. It is expected that knowing the characteristics of the sensitivity of the SiPMs, the absorption characteristics of the filter elements and the spectra of fluorescence and Cherenkov light, one can calculate the contribution of each component in the total light flux. Upon completion of this work it will be possible to separate the fluorescent and Cherenkov light at the stage of on-board primary processing of the recorded data. This method will increase the methodological accuracy of the fluorescent light flow measurements and thus significantly reduce the impact of the modelling in the primary cosmic ray characteristics reconstruction.
