[SH099] Observation of heliospheric disturbances of 2016 in the muon flux registered in the hodoscopic mode

Main sources of information about the disturbances in the heliosphere are various detectors located on satellites. However, such information has a point-like character, limited by the position of detectors in space, and has a rather limited predictive potential. Cosmic rays are a powerful tool for investigating of such phenomena, since perturbations of the interplanetary magnetic field related with the solar activity modulate the flux of primary cosmic rays during its propagation in the heliosphere, and hence, can be detected in advance on the basis of variations of the secondary cosmic rays. For these purposes, the muon hodoscope URAGAN was created in MEPhI, on the basis of which a new method of muon diagnostics for the analysis of perturbations in the heliosphere and near-terrestrial space was developed. The results of the study of heliospheric disturbances in 2016 by means of the muon hodoscope URAGAN which allows to explore not only the integral counting rate of registered muons, but also muon flux local anisotropy, are presented. Special attention is paid to the development of the method of identification of coronal mass ejections which change the muon flux on the Earth's surface.
