[NU003] GRB neutrino and antineutrino searches with Borexino
Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are among the most energetic events known in the Universe, which perhaps are the source of neutrino emission. With Borexino data taken from December 2007, three different searches for GRB emitted neutrinos were delivered. First, search for electron antineutrinos with energies from 1.8 MeV to 15 MeV correlated with GRBs was performed through inverse beta decay channel on protons. No significant excess of events was found and we set the best limit on the neutrino fluence from GRBs below 8 MeV. The neutrinos and antineutrinos from GRBs that scatter on electrons were also searched for, a detection channel allowed by radio-purity of the Borexino. We obtained the current best limits on the neutrino fluence of all flavors and species below 7 MeV. Finally, we also searched for time correlations of GRBs with short bursts of events.
