[CRI298] The event generator Sibyll
The event generator Sibyll can be used for the simulation of hadronic multiparticle production up to the highest energies. Following the update of the long enduring model version 2.1 with the results of fixed target and collider experiments taken in the last decade, we present the revised model version 2.3 that is further improved by adjusting particle production spectra to match the expectation of Feynman scaling in the fragmentation region. In addition we use measurements of the flux and charge ratio of muons in the atmosphere to constrain the production spectra in the phase space beyond the range of the accelerator measurements. After an overview of the conceptual changes in the model, the current predictions for the depth of shower maximum and the number of muons as well as their energy spectrum in extensive air showers are discussed.
